Welcome to Crisis and Regional Simulations

Dear Delegates,

It is my immense pleasure to welcome you to the twenty-seventh session of The Ivy League Model United Nations Conference. As your Undersecretary-General for Crisis Committees and Regional Simulations, I cannot tell you how excited I am for what will surely be the best MUN conference in the history of MUN conferences! We have worked tirelessly to provide you with four days of vibrating debate, challenging crises, and all-around fun.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in International Relations, with a minor in Legal Studies and History. Born and raised in balmy Costa Rica, I greatly enjoy playing guitar, soccer, and eating. In contrast to many of my fellow Secretariat and staff members, I was barely involved in MUN during high school and only fell in love with it starting my sophomore year of college. On that account, please don¡¯t hesitate to talk to me if you are new to this and feel a little lost!

Due to the incredible efforts of our fantastic staff and Secretariat, you can expect a dynamic, past-paced, and surprising four days. From Weimar Germany to the Maldives Cabinet 2050 and everything in between, our committees will put the destiny of entire nations in your hands!

Throughout the conference, I will be visiting committees to provide you with food, announcements, and the occasional rose gram. Please do not hesitate to contact me before or during conference if you have any questions, concerns, or if you simply want to introduce yourself. I wish you the best of luck and I look forward to meeting you soon!

Cheers,

Dear Delegates,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the twenty-seventh session of the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference. As an enthusiastic participant in crisis committees, I am truly honored to be your Undersecretary-General for Crisis and Regional Simulations.

A little more about myself: I am a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences from St. Louis, double majoring in Political Science and Communications. When I am not preparing for ILMUNC or studying, you can find me playing my guitar, watching The Office, or writing thought-provoking articles for the Penn Political Review. This will be my second year on the ILMUNC secretariat, and I have attended many Model UN conferences throughout both my high school and college careers.

Your committee staff and I have been working hard to ensure that the crisis simulations this year will completely blow your mind in every sense; we hope to challenge not only your ability to think on your feet, but also your ability to collaborate with your fellow delegates and develop innovative solutions to realistic global situations. From maintaining international peace and security in the Security Council to preventing the rise of Hitler in Weimar Germany, I am confident that this year¡¯s selection of committees will be nothing short of engaging, challenging, and exciting.

I am very excited to see all of you in January, and I am certain that all of the hard work the ILMUNC XXVII Secretariat has put into the conference will make it an experience you will not soon forget. I will be visiting each committee during conference with updates and rose grams, and will also be running around the hotel throughout the weekend, so feel free to stop me and introduce yourself at any time. If you have any questions about ILMUNC, crisis committees, Penn, or anything else, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Cheers,
