Dear Delegates,
It is with tremendous pleasure that I welcome you all to the twenty-sixth session of The Ivy League Model United Nations conference! As your Under-Secretary-General for the Economic and Social Council, I cannot even begin to express my enthusiasm and confidence that this conference will exceed previous expectations and surpass your wildest dreams of what an MUN conference can be. Through unwavering dedication, steadfast ingenuity and a zealous commitment to ILMUNC, your wonderful secretariat has ensured that this year will promise the most rewarding and exhilarating experience of all time. Be prepared for thrilling debate, thought-provoking topics, and most importantly, resolving critical international issues that require your immediate attention.
Although I am from Mexico City and have lived there all my life, my family comes from Honduras, Peru, Cuba, Russia, Ukraine, Spain and Turkey, which accounts for my passion for international languages and cultures. I speak English, Spanish, Portuguese and Hebrew, and I am an active member of the International Affairs Association, Wharton Latino, and Mex@Penn. Currently, I am a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences and am planning on majoring in Communications, with a minor in both Marketing and Psychology. Model UN has always been a big part of my life; I have been involved in it since 7th grade, became Secretary-General of my school’s MUN in High School, addressed the General Assembly in New York City at the United Nations Culture for Peace Forum, and was an Assistant-Secretary-General for ILMUNC XXV.
You can expect great things from the amazing committees that ECOSOC has this year, and I am sure your chairs and staff will make ILMUNC XXVI unforgettable. Throughout the conference you will probably see me frequently in and out of your committees, so please make sure you stop by and introduce yourself! I would love for you to let me know how I can optimize your ILMUNC experience, so feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns, or even just to say hi. I encourage you to prepare yourself for an intellectually stimulating and demanding conference, and wish you all the best of luck. I’m counting down the days and waiting to meet all of you at ILMUNC XXVI.
Best regards,
Monica Gojman
