New at ILMUNC XXVI

The ILMUNC Scholarship
For the first time, ILMUNC is excited to offer a scholarship program, aimed to help schools that have economic difficulty obtaining the necessary funds to attend the conference. ILMUNC will waive the school, delegate and faculty advisor fees for ILMUNC 2010 for one selected school (with a maximum of 30 delegates). Click here to apply.
Focus on Global Issues
ILMUNC has always been committed to improving the broader
world around us through the Franklin Legacy Program, which has traditionally sought
to raise money for certain charities. This year, ILMUNC XXVI will focus on the problem
of water accessibility, an issue that has long been in the spotlight as nearly one
billion people on the planet lack access to safe water.
The city of Philadelphia
For the first time this year, ILMUNC will provide faculty advisors and delegates
with a Philadelphia Guide featuring restaurants, landmarks, museums and more at
a variety of prices and locations. Particularly useful for those visiting from far
away, the guide will provide fun facts about the city that may even surprise Philadelphia
natives.
College Life Panel
As part of our efforts to integrate the university and
student life with the conference, ILMUNC XXVI will feature a panel of Penn students
who will be fielding all delegate questions about all things college life—classes,
majors, study abroad, the transition from high school to college, the food, the
dorms and the social scene.
Continued Commitment to Novice Delegates
This year, ILMUNC XXVI will continue with our propositions for novice delegates. As last year,
we will have a pre-conference training session for new delegates organized by our
senior staff members. Furthermore, the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (UNPBC)
General Assembly committee will be reserved exclusively for novice delegates. The
comfortable environment in the committee will allow novice delegates, who might
otherwise find themselves overwhelmed by the fast pace of a regular General Assembly
committee, to flourish and develop a thorough understanding of the Model UN process.
Catering to Faculty
The Faculty Advisor experience is equally important to us as
the delegate experience. To help each advisor get acquainted with the conference
and our staff, the Secretary-General and Director-General will host many events
over the weekend, starting with the Wine and Cheese Reception. Every day we will
provide faculty with Breakfast in our improved All-Day Faculty Lounge complete with
newspapers and refreshments. Afternoon Tea with the Secretary-General and Director-General
will also serve as a good break during the day from the stresses of the conference.
The input of faculty advisors is immensely valuable throughout conference, and we
look forward to addressing all questions, concerns and feedback at our Nightly Faculty
Advisor Meetings.
