Welcome to North Korean Cabinet

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the North Korean Cabinet!

My name is Pallavi and I am a junior in the School of Engineering and Applied Science here at Penn. I have lived my whole life in central New Jersey and have come to explore the world vicariously through Model United Nations. I am curious and hungry for information by nature, and I’ve found that by focusing my time on people-oriented organizations, I am able to make my experience here at Penn diverse and comprehensive. My time is spent tutoring at local high schools, working with consulting firms to bring opportunities to Penn students, working with incoming freshmen to smoothen their transition into college, and of course, making your ILMUNC XXVI experience the best it can and will ever be.

It’s important for each of you to do your part in making this weekend a successful one, so be sure to read the background guide thoroughly and research your positions as well. We’ve provided you with a comprehensive overview of the subject, but this is just a starting point; it will be to your advantage to be well versed in the topics at hand. Remember, we all have a role to play, and as we step into our respective roles this weekend we take on the responsibility to effectively participate, negotiate, and have fun!

Sincerely,

Pallavi Yerramilli

Chair, North Korean Cabinet

Ivy League Model United Nations Conference XXVI

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the North Korean Cabinet at the twenty-sixth session of ILMUNC!! My name is Gurbani Chawla and I will be your Crisis Director for this committee! I am a sophmore in the College of Arts and Sciences, here at Penn studying Economics, Sociology and South Asian studies. I hail from the Windy City of Chicago, which may just be the most amazing city in the world. My interests include travelling, playing badminton, experiencing new cultures, learning foreign languages and working with middle school and high school students. I have made it an effort to participate in things at Penn that include these interests. I have been involved in the International Affairs Association since freshman year and I hope that I can make this committee session the best possible one for you!

Now, moving on to the committee information. As Pallavi mentioned, make sure that you read the background guide and assume the role given to you. The better you know your position, the more fun we will have because I will be able to throw more interesting problems at you guys! Hopefully we can come together to find possible solutions for the situation in North Korea. I look forward to getting to meet you all in person before we embark on a very crisis-packed weekend. Good luck with your preparations and I hope that this committee is all that you hope it will be.

Warm Regards,

Gurbani Chawla
