Welcome to World War II: Allies

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the World War II: Allies committee; the better half of what I anticipate will be an excellent double Joint Crisis Committee. My name is Poorvi Kunzru and my family currently lives in…you guessed it, Muscat, Oman. I have lived in eight different places growing up, but am originally from India. I am a junior at the University of Pennsylvania double majoring in Economics and Philosophy and minoring in French. When I am not either planning MUN Conferences (I was the proud Secretary-General of our college level Conference – UPMUNC - come check it out when you are in college) or attending MUN Conferences, I can be found building libraries in South India (check out www.kitabkorner.org) or playing golf. I love many things in life, but am especially fond of spending time with my family and friends, taking my dogs to the beach, travelling, and people watching (no, I will not stare at you during committee).

Come to ILMUNC well prepared; read the background guide, research your positions, and learn loose parliamentary procedure (I am not a stickler for rules and welcome all sorts of questions, but try and learn what words such a ‘motion’ and ‘directive’ mean). If you come prepared, I, in turn, will promise that our committee will be dynamic and entertaining as well as an excellent learning experience.

Warm regards,

Poorvi Kunzru

Dear Allies,

My name is Harris Atmar and I will be your crisis director for the Allied Cabinet of WWII for ILMUNC! As a senior at the University of Pennsylvania, I have had much experience with Model United Nations over my past four college years. I am currently enrolled in a class titled “World at War” and could not be more excited to be your crisis director. I expect a lively crisis that attempts to encompass the entirety of the war but also gives you the leeway to make progress and potentially save half the world from utter destruction. In any event, my main purpose will be to engage you in lively and enjoyable debate that you will be able to take something from upon conclusion of the committee.

Thank you for the opportunity and I can’t wait to see everyone in committee!

Harris Atmar
