Dear Delegates,

It is my absolute privilege to welcome you to ILMUNC 36! My name is Canyon Kornicker and I will be the chair for the Specialized Agency of the Arab League.

I was originally born in New York City, but lived most of my life in Central New Jersey and moved recently to Connecticut. With that being said, studying at the University of Pennsylvania has made me fall in love with Philadelphia. At Penn, I’m in the Wharton School of Business, where I plan to concentrate in Management and Behavioral Economics and minor in English and Mathematics.

This fall I will be the Director-General for UPMUNC 53 and have previously chaired committees for ILMUNC, ILMUNC India and WEMUN in China. The International Affairs Association has been a huge part of my life on campus and I’m super lucky to be involved in this incredible organization. I’m also involved in Penn Records, a student-run music label. In my free time, I like to stay up to date on new books, music and movies.

I hope you all are as excited as I am for conference! I’m looking forward to having a nice weekend of intense debate on the Arab League and we’re looking to make this specialized committee as engaging and interesting for you guys as possible. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to email me at canyon@wharton.upenn.edu. I’m looking forward to meeting you all and hopefully fostering good debate!

Sincerely,

Canyon Kornicker

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the Arab League Committee at ILMUNC XXXVI! My name is Sam Dvorak and I couldn’t be more excited to be your Moderator for a committee unlike any you’ve experienced before.

A bit about me: I’m a junior studying Finance and Management at the Wharton School. I grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but currently reside in Manhattan Beach, California. Besides being your Moderator for ILMUNC, I also compete on Penn’s competitive Model UN team, Intercol. When I’m not doing Intercol-related things, you can find me studying anywhere with a lot of natural light, running on the Schuylkill River trail, or trying/failing to teach myself how to cook.

Back to the topic at hand, I truly cannot wait to moderate this year’s specialized agency alongside your insanely talented Chair, Canyon Kornicker. Canyon and I have a lot of experience working together on our college conference, UPMUNC, so we are really looking forward to running this committee together. While I do not want to give away too much about the exciting things in store for this committee, I will tell you that Canyon and I are both extremely passionate about this topic, and we truly cannot wait to see what you all do with it. Please feel free to reach out to me at sdvorak@wharton.upenn.edu with any questions about the committee/life/anything. See you in January!

Sincerely,

Sam Dvorak
