Welcome to ILMUNC 36, and welcome to Facebook. My name is Andy Shao, and I’m very excited to be your Crisis Director for the Facebook committee. Your Secretariat and Staff have been working tirelessly for months to prepare for this conference, so look forward to an amazing weekend ahead!
Before I go into discussing the committee, I’ll tell you a bit more about myself. I’m a Senior majoring in Economics at the Wharton School and concentrating in Finance and Management. I’m originally from Westford, Massachusetts, a Boston suburb just 35 minutes out of the city. In the past, I have been a USG of Operations for ILMUNC, a delegate for our intercollegiate travel team, as well as a number of international initiatives such as ILMUNC China and ILMUNC Vietnam. Currently I am serving as the vice president of our parent organization, the International Affairs Association. I have also previously staffed ILMUNC as the Chair of the UN Habitat so you may have seen me around in the past!
This committee is going to be an exciting, fast-paced simulation of a real company board room. Learn the history and function behind them and understand what can and may happen - anything is on the table. The delegates who will shine in this committee will not only be those who can apply substance and business acumen to the operation of the company, but also ones who have the foresight and flexibility to anticipate crises of all kinds - financial, legal, strategic, and otherwise. Each delegate will hold unique power and influence in the committee, and understanding how to properly wield those to the greatest impact will yield success.
Your chair Eesha and I are especially excited about running this committee and have a lot of fun things in mind. We look forward to getting to know you all this weekend.
Please do not hesitate to email your USG, Vinai Kumar, about any questions regarding the committee and preparation process. Get pumped for a challenging and exciting weekend, and see you soon at ILMUNC 36!
