Dear Delegates,

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to ILMUNC 36 and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, more commonly known as UNESCO! My name is Anushrut Shah, and I will be serving as your chair this January for what is sure to be an exciting and unforgettable weekend. The ILMUNC secretariat has worked tirelessly to continually improve every year, and this committee is a testament to that.

To introduce myself, I am a junior in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Engineering Entrepreneurship. I was born in India but have lived in London and Madrid most of my life. I was lucky to become involved in Model UN from the sixth grade, and oddly enough keep coming back for more each year. I competed on the European circuit before moving to Philly, where I have spent the last two years being a part of the secretariat for ILMUNC’s sister conference, UPMUNC, most recently serving as an Under-Secretary General for General Assemblies. This year, I am also serving as the Director General for ILMUNC Vietnam. Outside of MUN, I am a huge soccer fan and you can usually find me either fervently watching Premier League matches or playing at Penn Park with friends.

This committee will tackle the implementation of technology into educational curriculums and the protection of indigenous languages and cultures, both increasingly crucial and relevant in UNESCO’s manifesto. Your Dais will work to ensure you have the best experience at ILMUNC come January, and we cannot wait to hear the creative solutions you construct to tackle these ever-important issues. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your wonderful USG, Sameer Khan. I can’t wait to see you all!

Sincerely,

Anushrut Shah

Dear Delegates,

My name is Moiz Ali Jehangir, and I’m very excited to be serving as Moderator of UNESCO at ILMUNC 36.

I’m a junior at Penn from Lahore, Pakistan, and I’m majoring in International Relations, with minors in Economic Policy and South-Asia Studies. Outside of the classroom, I spend time traveling with Penn’s MUN team, hanging out with friends, and listening to X and J. Cole on repeat.

I’m committed to making your delegate experience an ideal one, and running a committee that emphasizes substance/content above all else. Please reach out to me at moiz@sas.upenn.edu if you have any questions.

Looking forward to seeing you in Philly!

Sincerely,

Moiz Ali Jehangir
