Astronomer Board

Approximately 20 Delegates - Single Delegate

Welcome to the Astronomer Board of Directors Crisis Committee! The world’s fastest-rising data-infrastructure company faces a devastating public relations disaster: its CEO and Chief People Officer were caught on the Kiss Cam at a Coldplay concert, and the video has gone viral. Within hours, contracts are canceled, investors panic, and the company’s billion-dollar reputation teeters on collapse. As board members, delegates must confront scandal, salvage investor confidence, and chart Astronomer’s future in real time. Will you defend leadership, demand resignations, or spin the chaos into opportunity? Behind every decision lies high-stakes corporate politics, competing visions, and hidden loyalties. The press hungers for a headline, investors for stability, and employees for moral clarity. Only shrewd strategy, unified messaging, and decisive leadership can prevent Astronomer from imploding under its own spotlight.

Dear Delegates,

My name is Aarit Bhatnagar and I look forward to meeting all of you at ILMUNC this year! I will be your co-chair along with Emma for the Astronomer Board of Directors committee.

In this committee, you will be tasked with guiding our company through its most turbulent and scandalous period in history. Hopefully, you are able to find a way to work together while furthering your own objectives, and we can’t wait to see what you guys come up with.

As the Board of Directors of Astronomer following the very public, and very poorly-timed Kiss Cam at Coldplay’s fateful concert, we will work tirelessly to ensure that the company navigates this turbulent period successfully. The burden is on you guys to make sure we handle our leadership’s unwise decisions in a way that assuages our shareholders and employees, while leading the company to success in the world of data analytics.

About myself, I am a senior at the University of Pennsylvania from Westport, Connecticut. I am studying Economics and History (concentrating in Diplomatic History) and minoring in Data Science and Analytics. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy playing soccer and tennis, as well as watching a wide variety of sports, with some of my favorites being Formula 1, soccer, and football. I also love traveling, exploring restaurants in Philadelphia, and watching movies. Feel free to ask us any questions about Philly, college life, or anything else outside of Model UN too!

I have been passionate about international affairs for a long time, and participated in Model UN in high school. I am also the Director of Penn’s competitive Model UN team, Intercol, and have been a chair and crisis director for multiple committees in both UPMUNC (Penn’s college conference) and ILMUNC.

I’m looking forward to helping you guys decide the course of this committee and working with you to ensure this conference is an amazing experience for everyone. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions before or during the conference.

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to ILMUNC XLII!! My name is Brady Keith, and I am very excited to your Crisis Director this year. The Board of Directors of Astronomer have found themselves in quite the PR bind, and I look forward to seeing the actions you take over the course of this committee to respond to this crisis and improve and protect the reputation of your company.

At the intersection of social media virality, venture capital, data analytics, and AI, Astronomer currently faces numerous challenges. As you seek to grow your company and increase its notoriety, you will have to manage this emergent crisis brought on by one of your own. You will have to question everything you think you know about your colleagues, about the Internet, and about data analytics, and do whatever it takes to keep Astronomer going.

A little bit about me: I’m a sophomore at Penn from Los Angeles studying Linguistics and History, with a concentration in Intellectual History. I’m a member of INTERCOL, Penn’s competitive Model UN team. This will be my second-year staffing ILMUNC, and I am very excited to have the chance to be a Crisis Director again! Outside of MUN, I am the President of TEDxPenn, a club which organizes the world’s largest student-run TED Talk conference. I’m also a tour guide in the Kite and Key Society.

Once again, I am very excited to welcome you all to ILMUNC, and sincerely hope that our committee will be impactful, productive, and fun! Please do not hesitate to reach out to Aarit, Emma, or myself if you have any questions.

Dear Delegates,

I am excited to welcome you to ILMUNC XLI and the Board of Directors of Astronomer! My name is Emma Twitmyer, and I will be your co-chair along with Aarit, guiding our committee through an engaging, challenging, and fun weekend of Apache Airflow execution, shareholder pressure, and the ever-precarious world of corporate reputation management.

As the Astronomer Board of Directors in this committee, we will work tirelessly to address the fallout from a very public incident that has placed our company in the headlines. With Coldplay concerts, kiss cams, and questionable executive decision-making shaping the narrative, it is up to us to steady the company’s trajectory, rebuild trust, and ensure that Astronomer remains a leader in the world of data operations and enterprise analytics.

For a little more about your chair, I am a senior at the University of Pennsylvania studying Artificial Intelligence (a new major) in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. I love combining technical skills with human nature and psychology to maximize impact. Outside of the classroom, I have researched effective and inclusive signage for wayfinding in public transportation, I am a member of the Kite and Key tour guiding society, I lead 130 incoming freshmen hiking in the Delaware Water Gap every August with PennQuest, and I compete as part of Penn’s competitive Model UN team, Intercol.

I have been involved in Model UN since high school, and the energy of Model UN is contagious and unlike any other. I look forward to staffing ILMUNC every year! The ideas you will come up with and the lasting friendships you will form make ILMUNC more than just a one-weekend conference but a meaningful experience. And while you’re in my hometown of Philly, make sure to buy an Eagles jersey (go birds!) and try a real quality cheesesteak (my favorite is Dalessandro’s, which is a bit outside of the city).

I can’t wait to join together as the Astronomer Board of Directors in January to determine how best to steer our company out of chaos and into stability. Whether you push for strong governance reforms, a PR masterstroke, or perhaps a well-timed collaboration with Chris Martin himself, your creativity will shape the future of this company. Reach out with any questions before or during the conference.
