Dear Delegates,

I am very pleased to welcome you to the thirty-sixth iteration of the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference! My name is Dano Major and I will be your Chair for DISEC. It has been such a pleasure preparing for conference over these past several months and Arjun and I cannot wait to share an incredible experience with you! I am so excited to tell you a little bit more about myself and this amazing conference.

I was born and raised in Manhattan Beach, California where I enjoyed the year-round sunny weather by spending copious amounts of time at the beach with friends and family. Since coming to Penn, I have survived three winters and am learning to navigate the public transportation system. I am studying in the College of Arts and Sciences, where I am majoring in Economics, International Relations, and Hispanic Studies. Joining the University of Pennsylvania’s International Affairs Association as an overwhelmed and confused freshman was one of the best decisions I have made since coming to Penn; I anticipate that my fourth and final ILMUNC will be just as stimulating and enjoyable as the other Model United Nations conferences I have attended!

Your secretariat has spent countless hours working to make sure each of the committees is run by capable staffers and that each topic is dynamic and engaging for all of you. With a wide range of topics and committees, we hope that all delegates are able to partake in a lively debate about topics that excite them.

I have enjoyed pursuing my passion for Model UN on the collegiate level through INTERCOL, Penn’s competitive travel team, and serving as Secretary General of UPMUNC 52. I am now the President of IAA where I have met my best friends. I hope that we are able to foster a similar environment of learning and connection for all of you at ILMUNC this year. Please do not hesitate to reach out me or any other members on the Secretariat with questions or concerns.

All my best,

Dano Major

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to ILMUNC 36! My name is Arjun Patel, and I am so happy to be your Moderator for DISEC at this year’s conference! The secretariat and staff have been working incredibly hard to make this year’s ILMUNC the best yet. I sincerely hope ILMUNC is one of your favorite weekends this semester.

Outside of Model United Nations, I am a current sophomore studying PPE (Political Science, Philosophy, and Economics) as well as Hispanic Studies as a double-major. I’m from Manhattan Beach, California where the sun is always up and it never dips below 50 degrees, so moving to Philadelphia has definitely been a transition. Despite this, I have loved my years at Penn, have had an amazing time exploring the Spanish language as well as international politics and economics. I participated in Model United Nations all four years at high school so I can’t wait to experience this year’s ILMUNC with you guys! Since coming to Penn, I have also been a member of both the travel team and our collegiate conference secretariat (UPMUNC) for all three years on top of chairing at ILMUNC. Outside of MUN, I spend my free time playing and watching soccer, cooking, and serving as social chair of my fraternity.

Dano and I can’t wait to meet you all in person at this year’s ILMUNC! Best of luck and happy researching to all :)
