Joint Crisis Committee: Star Wars Cabinet 2
Approximately 20 Delegates - Single Delegate
Welcome to the Galactic Republic! As the Siege of Coruscant rages, the Republic faces its most perilous hour. The Senate trembles, the Jedi are stretched thin, and Chancellor Palpatine’s emergency powers tighten their grip. Delegates will represent senators, generals, and Jedi commanders racing to defend democracy itself. Every decision carries moral and political consequence: preserve liberty or sacrifice it for victory? With the Separatists advancing and corruption spreading from within, the Republic must rally its fleets, restore public faith, and confront the uncomfortable question—can a democracy survive total war? In this joint crisis, every communiqué, vote, and battle order will ripple across the galaxy. The fate of civilization rests in your hands.
Dear Delegates,
Welcome to ILMUNC XLII! My name is Benjamin Tausner, and I am honored to be chairing this year’s Joint Crisis Committee (JCC). Over the course of the weekend, you will be challenged to think quickly, negotiate under pressure, and bring creative, pragmatic solutions to life in real time. My Co-Chairs and I are committed to making this committee an intense, engaging, and memorable experience. Having sat on both sides of the dais, my advice to you is simple: embrace your role fully, stay adaptable, and push yourself to collaborate with both allies and adversaries.
A bit about me: I am a senior at the University of Pennsylvania, studying Computer Science and Systems Engineering while also pursuing a master’s degree in Data Science. Model UN has been a central part of my life for years—I attended ILMUNC all four years of high school, have been part of Penn’s MUN club for two years, and currently compete on Penn’s collegiate travel team. Beyond MUN and academics, I love to cook, practice photography, and play lacrosse. I also enjoy traveling—I’ve worked in Singapore and studied in Budapest over the past couple of years, experiences that have shaped both my academic and personal perspectives.
I am incredibly excited to meet all of you and to see the energy and creativity you bring into this fast-paced committee. Please don’t hesitate to reach out via email if you have any questions about the committee, topics before the conference, or questions in general!
Sincerely,
Benjamin Tausner

Over the course of the weekend, you’ll be called on to think on your feet, negotiate under pressure, and craft bold yet practical solutions in real time. The decisions you make will shape the course of events for committee, and the stakes will only grow higher as the conference progresses.
My Co-Chairs and I are dedicated to making this an intense, dynamic, and rewarding experience. So embrace your role fully, stay adaptable when the unexpected arises, and don’t shy away from engaging with both allies and rivals. I cannot wait to see the creativity, strategy, and leadership you bring to committee!
A little bit about me, I am a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences studying Health and Societies with a minor in Data Science and Analytics. I’m from New York City and was a member of ILMUNC for over two years. This will be my first conference that I have helped to chair with ILMUNC and hope that you all have an enriching and valuable experience! Outside of ILMUNC, I am a part of a consulting club supporting local Philadelphia businesses, conduct clinical research at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and am involved in Greek life on campus. I love playing basketball, watching movies, and spending time outdoors!
I am incredibly excited to meet all of you and to see the energy and creativity you bring into this fast-paced committee. Please don’t hesitate to reach out via email if you have any questions about the committee, topics before the conference, or questions in general!

Dear Delegates,
Welcome to ILMUNC XLII’s Joint Crisis Committee: Star Wars! My name is Juliette Silk, and I am honored to be your Crisis Director of the Jedi Council. Kartik and I have been preparing extensively for this committee over the past several months, and we’re incredibly excited to see you all soon!
I’m currently a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Art History and minoring in Consumer Psychology and Cinema Studies. I’m from Westchester, New York and went to Scarsdale High School where I participated and helped lead my high school’s Model UN club and even participated as a delegate in ILMUNC!
On Penn’s campus, I joined ILMUNC during my freshman year. I was an ASG and USG of subs, getting to work in the backroom of crisis committees to make sure everything ran smoothly. Last year, I served on the ILMUNC Upper Secretariat board as Chief of Affairs, coordinating and traveling to international Model UN conferences in Vietnam, Shanghai, and India. After working in the backroom, logistical side of ILMUNC for 3 years I am ecstatic to be a Crisis Director and hope that you all have an enriching and valuable experience!
Outside of ILMUNC, I am involved in Bloomers Comedy Troupe, Kite and Key Tour Guide Society, and I am involved in Greek life on campus. I love hiking and painting and try to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible!
I’m very excited to get the chance to know each and every one of you in this Joint Crisis Committee! This style of committee really allows you to get creative and ambitious, so dream big and be prepared to wear many different hats. I hope this experience will not only hone your creativity, diplomacy, and debating skills, but also be incredibly fun. I hope you have an amazing weekend at ILMUNC, and I’m looking forward to meeting all of you! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions regarding the committee.

Dear Delegates,
Hope you all are doing well. I am so excited to greet you to the forty-second iteration of the Ivy League Model United Nations. In particular, I’m most thrilled to welcome you to our Joint Crisis Committee (JCC)!
Our JCC will consist of two committees in separate rooms, debating the same crisis on opposite factions of the Star Wars galaxy. On one end, delegates in the Confederacy of Independent Systems will try to find common ground amongst each other and seek power in their own positions. On our end, the Galactic Republic will look to do the same. While there are no boundaries to the actions that each faction takes, delegates must creatively devise notes and directives that are realistic within the realm of their characters’ powers and influence. As rounds of individual notes are passed, delegates will develop their private arcs. As one-clause resolutions are presented and submitted, these directives will influence committee updates and the public arc of all characters. Particularly within the JCC, public arcs and committee updates will affect both committees in real-time. As the committee looks to defend the Coruscant from the Separatist assault, we are excited to see how delegates facilitate the fall or rise of the Republic.
A little bit about myself– I am a senior at Penn studying International Relations. Originally from Edison, New Jersey, I grew up running track and cross country while also competing in Model UN conferences. In fact, I even attended ILMUNC as a high school student! At Penn, I have been involved with the planning and operations of ILMUNC for the past three years– including running the conference as Secretary-General last year. I have also been involved in Penn International Impact Consulting, where I have led teams that consult for non-profits based in Ghana and Thailand. In my spare time, I enjoy running, DJing, and skiing with my friends.
Ben, Sam, Dexter, Juju, and I are thrilled to be working with all of you in this year’s JCC committee, and we cannot wait to see your creative ideas affect our updates and interactions with the Sith committee. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and good luck with your preparation!
See you soon,

Dear Delegates,
Welcome to the Joint Crisis Committee: Star Wars – The Fall of the Republic! My name is Sam Tausner, and I’ll be one of your chairs. I’m really excited to watch you all step into the roles of senators, Jedi, and generals to tell a new version of this story. This JCC is designed so that what one side does actually matters for the other room, so you should come in ready to move fast, write clear directives, and defend your choices in-character.
In this crisis, the Galactic Republic is trying to hold Coruscant together, protect civilians, and prove it still deserves to govern. At the same time, the Separatists are arguing that secession is justified and that the Republic has already slipped into wartime authoritarianism; this tension is what I want you to lean into. If you make your decisions grounded in the setting, we’ll get a committee that actually feels like the Republic is about to tip.
A little bit about me, I am a senior in the Engineering School studying Networked and Social Systems. I’m originally from northern New Jersey and went to Dwight-Englewood where I participated in my high school’s Model UN club. After being on the Business and Affairs branches of ILMUNC my freshman and sophomore year, this will be my first time chairing a committee at a conference, and I hope that you all have an enriching and valuable experience! Outside of ILMUNC, I am a member of Engineering Consultants at Penn and am also involved in Greek life on campus. I also love to be outdoors, whether in the form of running, backpacking, or skiing.
Kartik, Ben, Dexter, Juju and I are all looking forward to working with you in committee, and please reach out if you have any questions.
