Secretary-General

KAMBIZ SHOAEI

Kambiz Shoaei is a Junior from Laguna Hills, California studying International Relations and Economics. Kambiz joined ILMUNC in 2021 to inspire young students and leaders to think critically about global politics and pursue their ambitions in respective fields. Outside of ILMUNC, Kambiz is an associate consultant for Penn International Impact Consulting, Secretary of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, and a UPenn Kite and Key Tour Guide. In his free time, you can find Kambiz swimming at the beach or cultivating precise emotions by way of Spotify playlists.

JULIETTE SILK

Juliette Silk is a sophomore from Westchester, New York, studying art history with a minor in Consumer Psychology. After participating in Model United Nations throughout high school, Juliette was eager to give back to the Model UN community during her time at the University of Pennsylvania, joining the ILMUNC Secretariat in 2022. One of Juliette’s favorite aspects of Model UN is facilitating Crisis committees, mainly working in the backroom to promote an exciting and educational experience for delegates throughout the committee sessions. Outside of ILMUNC, Juliette is a tour guide for UPenn’s Kite and Key Society and a part of Bloomers Comedy Group.

MAHI VAKIL

Mahi Vakil is a sophomore from Edison, New Jersey, studying Bioengineering with minors in Economics and Engineering Entrepreneurship. Despite being new to Model United Nations, Mahi joined ILMUNC in 2022 to forge transformative educational experiences for students across the globe. Outside of ILMUNC, Mahi is the marketing and recruitment chair for Engineering Consultants at Penn, and a member of the pre-healthcare fraternity Alpha Iota Gamma. In her free time, you can find her reading, camping, or flying (and falling) down the ski slopes.

MARTA ZAPATA ESCONDRILLAS

Marta Zapata Escondrillas is a sophomore in The College of Arts and Sciences double majoring in Political Science and Economics with a minor in Legal Studies and History. She is currently on the pre-law track and hopes to work in Corporate Law. She is originally from Madrid, Spain but has lived in Miami, Florida for the past 10 years. Outside of ILMUNC, Marta is on the Admission Dean's Advisory Board, a board dedicated to carrying out the initiates of the Admission's office. She is also a committee member of Wharton Latino which brings together the Latino community at Penn, and a UPenn Kite and Key Tour Guide. Marta has been doing Model UN since her freshman year of high school and loves public speaking and international affairs. She is thrilled for an amazing conference!

SAMUEL TAUSNER

Samuel Tausner is a sophomore from Leonia, New Jersey, studying Networked and Social Systems Engineering with a concentration in Data Science and a minor in Mathematics. Sam has been involved in Model UN since his first year in high school, where he used to even compete at ILMUNC’s conference in Philadelphia, before becoming a member of ILMUNC’s Secretariat in college. Outside of ILMUNC, Sam is a member of the Engineering Consultants at Penn, and he is always looking to stay active, whether on a soccer field, a ski slope, or a swimming pool.

KYLE FUKUMOTO

Kyle Fukumoto is a freshman from Manhattan Beach, CA studying Economics and Ancient History. Kyle has been involved in Model UN since his freshman year of high school, and cannot wait to see delegates spark thought-provoking debate and insightful resolutions. Aside from ILMUNC, Kyle is also involved in Wharton Investment & Trading Group, Wharton Undergraduate Finance Club, and Wharton Hedge Fund Club. In his free time, he loves to run, read, and go to the beach.

BENJAMIN TAUSNER

Benjamin Tausner is a sophomore from Leonia, New Jersey. He currently studies Networked and Social Systems Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. He has been competing in Model UN since high school and continues to do so at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining ILMUNC in college, he attended the conference for four years as a student. Outside of the classroom, Ben enjoys cooking for his friends and family and always sharing great food with the ones he loves. He also loves photography and playing lacrosse for the club lacrosse team at Penn. Ben is super excited to see you all this summer and can not wait to see the debate and discussion you all will bring to the committee.
